LexisNexis International Legal Generative AI Survey Shows Nearly Half of the Legal Profession Believe Generative AI Will Transform the Practice of Law
LexisNexis has released the results of its International Legal Generative AI Survey.
The survey involved 7,950 participants, including lawyers, law students, and consumers from the U.S., U.K., Canada, and France. The study aimed to gauge awareness and expectations regarding the impact of generative AI on the legal profession.
Key Findings:
- 47% of respondents believe generative AI will significantly or transformatively impact the practice of law.
- 45% think it will have some impact, while only 7% believe it will have no impact.
- Among corporate counsel, 60% expect law firms to adopt AI technology like generative AI tools, with only 10% disagreeing.
- 67% of U.S. corporate counsel, followed by 61% of French, 59% of U.K., and 53% of Canadian counsel, expect their law firms to adopt generative AI tools.
- 78% of corporate counsel expect transparency from law firms when using generative AI tools.
